AFS : KL-YES 18 ; My Journey Until I Was Chosen.

Assalamualaikum , guys.

Sis kembali. Kind of busy living my last month in USA. Btw , I’m coming back to Malaysia next month. I’M SADDDDDD !! But , consistently being a positive person right now. Hehe.

K k focus on our topic today which is my journey in AFS Malaysia until I was chosen. Ramai yang tanya , “Eh cemana boleh terpilih” , “Tetibe je dah ada kat USA budak kecik ni” , and so on. K actually , I’m an exchange student under KL-YES dari AFS Malaysia , which is fully sponsored program. So , in case to get chosen into this program is quite hard. Only 39 people among more than hundreds student all over Malaysia ware chosen this year to experience American culture. Alhamdulillah , I’m quite lucky.

Actually , there are a few steps or phases that I’ve been through before I fly to USA with my beloved batchmates , YES’18 .

How did I know about this program ?

My mentor in my youth club , Mr. Armizam came to my house to tell me about this. Persatuan Belia G2 kiranya macam adik beradik dengan Persatuan Gen Y. So , last year , two members on their club were chosen to join KL-YES 2017. So , they inspired us to try it. Tbh , at the first time , I just tried it for fun and create new friends all over Malaysia. My confidence level was too low at that time. Just berserah pada rezeki Allah. Orang kata rezeki tak pernah tersalah alamat. So masetu niat dalam hati , kalau tak dapat , jangan sedih and focus for SPM.

First Interview : Johor Chapter

First step , My friends and I went to an interview for Johor chapter. It was held at Johor Bahru during Ramadan sis . K ramai tanya apa je yang diorang tanya masa interview nanti. This is a few tips for you guys okay.

The things that I always tell myself is :

   “ The reason why they held an interview is they want to choose the right person. If you’re not chosen , it doesn’t mean that you’re not good enough. Bukan rezeki awak kali ini.”

It is really helpful to be positive and betulkan niat. At least if you’re not chosen , today , you make connection with other students and teenagers in Malaysia. Rezeki berkawan ni juga suatu nikmat yang tak terhingga bagi sis.

TEAM !!

Alhamdulilah , kali ni dapat pergi next stage. I’M SOOOOO HAPPY , NOT only because of getting next opportunity to do better on interview, but I got to meet many sweet people. The reason why I said ‘sweet people’ , it is because everytime kau jumpa sesiapa pun even tak kenal benda pertama mesti SENYUM and start berkenalan. Walaupun lepas beberapa jam lepastu , SENYUM dan tanya benda yang sama. This 3 days and 2 nights camp was held at Crystal Crown Hotel in PJ. Kat sini laa , diuji communication skill and others. And also we have another interview. Ingat lagi masa lepas interview , sedih yakmat sebab rasa macam tak buat dengan terbaik. Down sampai ke malam. But , still have fun. So , no hal. Kepada yang terpilih join national selection camp ni , satu je nak pesan , amik tahu pasal Malaysia and global. Pengetahuan am tuu upgrade yaa rakan rakan. (Even tak pergi interview , memang lumrah nak jadi knowledgeable kena ambil tahu. Ambil tahu dan ambil berat tentang isu isu semasa ini bukan termasuk ‘membawang’ yaa guys). For those yang dah sampai tahap ni , usaha laa sebaik-baiknya sebab ni dikira level terakhir. Ingat! Be yourself and do your best.

I think , untuk entry kalini , cukup laa kot. Doa , usaha , ikhtiar dan tawakal. Yang penting ,kalau tak terpilih , jangan sedih , banyak lagi rezeki kat luar sana. Ini bukan pengakhirannya. Ada je peluang ke luar negara yang lain. Goodluck gang !! Thank you. XOXO !

Actually , I really don’t know where I should start my story. This is because , it is already 3 months in USA. And I think , if nak buat throwback macam dah tak fresh kan ? But , whatever it is , better late than never.So , here people !!

K now sis akan start my journey #TheKunnieToTheUSA . Bismillahirrahmanirrahim.

In fact , we’re younger a day yesterday. Our age increased , but some people in this world NEVER realized that they need to learn from experience. Sis never keluar Malaysia . So , I’ve been dream to travel around the world when I’m adult.

2017 ; the year where I definitely learnt on how to cope with situations and problems.

So , here , 2018’s goal ; Experience makes you step ahead from others.

 January 15h 2018 - The day I left Malaysia , the day I left the old Asyikin behind. Tbh , my soul filled with thousands of emotion ; excitement , sadness , nervous , scared and also worried. And still running in my mind - “ Betul ke apa aku buat ni ? “ But with all support from my family , friends , youth club , orang kampung , makcik bawang (EH !?) and not forgotten AFS family , I managed to control myself to be acah2 heroin.

 

 Wow !! Seumur hidup sis , tak pernah keluar Malaysia lagi for any event or vacation. And my very first time living my life far away from my family. Out of my comfort zone -- no more makan tidur senang lenang , no more kdrama 24/7 , no more ABC tiap petang dengan kawan-kawan. THIS IS MY FIRST STEP AFTER SPM . Woops !!

 Back to my story , masa first mohon KL YES under AFS Malaysia , tak pernah terfikir pulak boleh dapat, selalu berangan je dengan Abang Zam (My very organizing mentor) . Disebalik kejayaan sesorang , pastinya ada manusia yang berkorban. Dengan kata-kata yang cukup indah, “ Nikmat Memberi Daripada Merasa” , mereka banyak membantu saya. This is the one yang uruskan sis untuk segala-galanya. Definitely , I love them all !!

  After I stepped beyond the departure gates of KLIA , I realized I am all alone. The only person that I can rely on is my YES18 family. We rely on each other a lot , in fact , we grow up together since we met at the National Selection Camp . CEH ! Tersweet pulak. (SHOUTOUT MISSING YOU GUYS ! HAVE FUN!) We had transit at Amsterdam and we were heading to New York City (To be drunk and in love in NYC~~) Eh eh ternyanyi pulak.

I miss makayah. The one who raised me well.

I’m on my way , I’m going fast~

   After 25 hours on plane , alhamdulillah selamat sampai. Dengan jetlagged that ruined my mood , but still enjoy my life. Dapat rasa keluar asap masa bercakap literally make my day. Dapat merasai snow buat pertama kalinya dalam sejarah hidup kami. Nampak sedikit beria dan agak tak behave yaa. But whatever , our first snow in our life , definitely need to be recorded in the camera !! It is a miracle for seeing the snow. It is soooooooo PRETTY We felt blessed , showered with the snow on our second day here. Feel like living in a fridge. LOL. Our 2 days (actually , one day and a half) orientation is definitely beneficial for us to adapt and cope with situation that we might face.

My super-beloved YES18 Family , the time we were very ‘jakun’ for our snow. LOL.

It makes our bond grow stronger after so much things we already have been through. Ingat guys , whatever happened in our life , don’t ever judge or compare our life dengan orang lain. If yaa that’s the path that you really want to go , go ahead. I wish the best for you guys. Remember , everything happened for a reason. Just believe in yourself and live your own life. If you really feel down , look back at how far did you already go. You worth it , people! K the last thing , I want to say , I WAS HEADING TO INDIANA ALONE !!

So proud of myself !!

1. FOOD

• Kismis
• Susu (Tak reti minum susu , try TAMAR COCOA)
• Ikan (Paling baik Salmon , but sis takdelaa makan Salmon. Orang kampung katakan)
• Telur
• Kacang ( Paling favourite , badam)
• Sayur / Buah  (Tak reti makan sayur , so usually consume buah je)
• Coklat (Paling berkesan time mood tak stabil)

• Emosi ( Keep calm , jangan stress , believe you can do it)
• Keselesaan (Ikut yourself laa , nak tempat senyap ke , nak nota warna warni ke)
• Nota (Read and understand it , choose keyword , write it down , and read out loud)
• Study hacks (Make a story or song, visualize , colorful note , QnA with friend,  acronyms, picture)
• Last minute study (PLEASE baca dulu roughly malam tuu before tidur , make sure dah ada keyword highlighted, baca roughly pagi tuu, baca lagi before amik test)

• Hormat and jaga hati orang sekeliling (especially mak ayah and tokguru hampa)
• Sentiasa berdoa agar dipermudahkan
• Percaya pada kemampuan diri and kekuasaan Allah (bagi yang muslim)
• Pandai curi masa ( Lek je bro nak main game , tapi janganlaa 24/7 OKAY)
• Share ilmu dekat kawan (Sumpah makin lekat ilmu tuu takleh tanggal even pakai Clorox)
• NEVER compare life kau dengan life kawan sebelah (Nanti stress boleh gila)
